It was in 2001 that the Laguna II, a saloon that was designed to reflect a lifestyle driving, came into production. It was a time of great innovation with an array of new features capabilities that let customers take advantage of their vehicle to the maximum.
The occupants had to use the keys to open and shut their doors. Renault engineers determined that this was a major problem for many.
They decided to incorporate the use of a contactless card into their vehicles, and then develop an application that would allow drivers to enter and unlock their cars simply by using their hands. renault replacement key card is now found in two of three Renault vehicles. The car will be unlocked automatically when the card is in close proximity to the ignition barrel, or on the centre console. This is a genuine Renault remote control key card (without the blade). It is supplied individually clam packed and ready to be programmed with Abrites diagnostics for Renault/ Dacia software with the ProTAG programmer.

The first hands-free card was introduced in 2001, in the Laguna II saloon. This car was designed to be the lifestyle car of the 21st Century. Renault could not test every possible application despite the detailed design guidelines built on over 6,000 phone calls with customers.
Fortunately, the product manager on Laguna II, Bernard Dumondel was in a hotel at the time and was using his room key to unlock his car. The key he was using had the small magnetic strip the product lead thought it might be possible to make an auto key that operated similarly.
In the following years the card was seen as an innovation that was revolutionary and is now found on two out of three Renault vehicles. Renault has chosen to use the latest features of smartphones to enhance the hands-free cards, even although it appears they are soon to replace it.
The keyless entry system
The hands-free cards of Renault were a groundbreaking piece of technology when it was introduced twenty years ago. The exterior design is the same however the technology has been improved to make it more user-friendly and less vulnerable to hacking.
It's not able to be used from outside to open doors or start the car unless the driver has activated it. This is because radio antennae "around the car" are designed to determine whether the key is inside or outside. The key can still turn on the ignition from a distance, but not unlock the doors. This is to ensure your safety.
The second is that the wireless remote control transmissions used by the system use a rolling-code. This minimizes the possibility of someone intercepting the control message and then transmitting it again to gain access, but it does not eliminate it. [1]
